“iPad” Name Still in Limbo

iPad, Mobile

As previously reported, Apple bought the iPad name from Fujitsu for an undisclosed amount which allowed them to begin producing and announcing products using the name. Apple had figured everything was just fine and dandy with their brand new iPad trademark but they forgot about the i-PAD, a portable defibrillator used in hospitals.

The i-PAD, manufactured by the Brazilian company Tecnologia de Ponta owns the trademark for the name. In order to avoid a lawsuit, it is likely Apple will also have to buy the name from Tecnologia de Ponta or pay licensing fees.

Hey, Apple, I once called my mattress an iPad so you have to pay me now too, okay?
