In the grand scheme of social games Indian developers have been fairly scarce. Thankfully, several Indian companies have arrived on the scene this year, including Arthah Games with their new Facebook release Delhi2Leh.
Delhi2Leh is a racing game where players unlock racing tracks as they go across country from Delhi to Leh. The visual style is simplistic and dated, reminiscent of old school arcade racers, with fairly flat textures and basic HUD. The game consists of two different play types; city levels (like the beginning one in Delhi) are top-down, sort of like Grand Theft Auto 2. You’ll be racing through the streets, avoiding damage, although beware if you are an American: oncoming traffic is on the left side of the road.
The second play type is reserved for the stretches of countryside between cities and is more of a behind the vehicle, arcade-y racing game. The highways in this mode are mostly straight, and you’ll be tasked with dodging oncoming cars and passing slow drivers. The game’s driving social aspect is high scores, so make sure to avoid hitting other vehicles as this causes you to lose points.
As you progress, you’ll also be given tidbits of education about the Indian landscape you’re traversing; for example, did you know that Chandigarh Cruise was the first planned city of India? If you want to learn more, you can check out Delhi2Leh here.
