Harmonix and MTV Games have announced the launch of the Rock Band Network Affiliates Program, a program that will allow the two companies to more seamlessly bridge the gap between the “real world” music industry, and the Rock Band video gaming space.
Paul DeGooyer, the SVP of Electronic Games and Music at MTV sums up the program nicely. He says (via a company press release):
“The Affiliates Program is the next step in our goal of bridging the music and game spaces. This initiative will promote the Rock Band Network to bands that frequent our affiliates’ sites and give the creators inside the Rock Band Network the opportunity to work with an amazing group of well-respected music distribution, promotion and technology sites, including Tunecore, Nimbit, Reverb Nation, Indaba Music and Topspin.”
Once a musician, band, label or publisher becomes an affiliate, they will be given all of the tools they need to make themselves successful in terms of music distribution, email marketing, social networking promotions, inventory fulfillment and the like. All of the above will allow bands to increase their exposure with the music audience at large, thus increasing their chance at fulfilling their dreams of super-stardom.
