Back in May, we brought you the news that CrowdStar and Sibblingz would be bringing Faebook gaming hit Happy Island to the iPhone. That day has arrived, with the app now being available on the iPhone App Store for 99 cents.
While there had been a bit of confusion as to whether or not Facebook accounts would link to the game, based on the announcement made by Sibblingz that the game would be optimized and customized for a mobile device, have no fear – the game immediately connects your Facebook account and your iPhone, allowing you to take over right where you left off online.
However, there are some exceptions. For example, the mysterious egg you may still be trying to incubate on your island can not be activated in the iPhone app. Another large difference is the lack of the game’s market, meaning that you won’t be able to purchase or add new attractions to your island until you go back online – you can still collect funds from your already placed attractions, as well as visit friends’ resorts and pick up trash, but any growth will have to wait for Facebook.
As for the major differences between the look of the two experiences, you’ll notice that a lot of the animations have been turned off in the iPhone version. Additionally, the HUD, or menu buttons can be hidden by double tapping the screen. Pinch and zoom is available, but limited, not allowing you to zoom as far as you might in the game on Facebook. You can still switch between islands, but instead of an island bar in the top right corner of the screen, you’ll have a scroll list across the bottom of the screen (when held horizontally).
It’s not clear as to whether or not a market feature will be added in the future, but we’ll be sure to let you know if it is, along with any other large updates that hit the game. If you’d like to try Happy Island LE for yourself, head over to the
