As reported by Network World, a recent survey has found that out of the 75,000 iPads tracked, the owners of more than half of them also owned a Windows PC, with around 16% relying on Windows 7.
Chitika Research found their figures by tracking IP addresses that came into their network, which also found that 63% of users also own a device running Mac OSX.
Why does this matter? According to Chitika, it means that, like Apple’s iPhone, the iPad has been able to make consumers look past the Windows vs. Mac debate, to pick up a product that works for their lifestyle regardless of the company responsible for it.
Despite their reputation as a niche computing company, Apple has created yet another product that strikes a chord with people who aren’t already within the Steve Jobs sphere of influence,” says Chitika.
The figures seem all the more striking when taking into account Chitika’s self-emposed limit on IP addresses with 6 or more devices, so as to eliminate data skewing by large companies and retailers.
