Casual, Console, Handheld

Earlier this week, Paramount Pictures announced that 505 Games is developing a Grease game for Nintendo Wii and DS. 505 Games is the developer behind Cooking Mama and Armored Core, among others.

The game is being developed on the Wii to utilize WiiMotes, Microphones, and the Balance Board. Although full details on the game’s design have not been released, according to Joystiq there will be a number of minigames, including T-Bird racicng, carnival game, and sing-a-longs. The best part, though, is the ability to have dance offs with your friends to the soundtrack, using two USB microphones and the Balance Board.

Senior vice president of video games for Paramount Digital Entertainment, John Kavanagh, says, “Grease is the ideal opportunity to reach a broad gaming audience who love to sing, dance, and have fun with a party-style game.” Although it may seem like an odd time to release a game based off of the 1971 Broadway musical and over 30 year old movie, it’s certainly a story line and soundtrack that many of us are familiar with. The game is penciled in for a September release.
