Go to School, School Others on the Go with Hero Academy

What makes a hero? We can finally put that question to rest — it’s not bravery, or selflessness, or any of that saccharine nonsense. To be a hero, you clearly need to have attended Hero Academy, gotten at least an undergraduate degree, and continue to support the Hero Academy NCAA team. At that point, you will be a technical Hero, and will also know how to slaughter all of your friends on the battlefield.

Robot Entertainment, a TriplePoint client who does not just entertain robots, is offering the world free enrollment in Hero Academy, their debut iOS title. Unlike other dubious offers of online education, Hero Academy may actually be worth your while, since it’s free-to-play and therefore free-to-slay. The courses offered at Hero Academy all seem to focus on turn-based strategic mayhem (with a minor in liberal arts), which is a vital skill in today’s economy.

Read the institution’s mission statement for yourself:

Hero Academy utilizes asynchronous multiplayer, so a player may battle friends across multiple simultaneous games, whenever they have a few moments of free time. Push notifications alert players to select moves from a range of options, like advancing across the game board, attacking, defending, or adding powerful items to the fray. Once satisfied with their armies’ five moves, gamers submit their orders or add a silly animated taunt.

You can check it out on the App Store right now, at which point, as a freshman, you will be brutally murdered by the upperclassmen. Welcome to adult education, chump!
