With so many games being released on the iTunes app store, it’s sometimes hard to keep up with which ones you should or shouldn’t be playing on your iPhone. Thankfully, we have the review round-up to show you the best games available on the app store, complete with summaries and reviews from all around the web.
A simple platformer cut from the same cloth as Super Mario Bros., Giana Sisters HD is a pretty, well-controlling platformer for the iPad. Adapted from the iPhone version of the same name, this new version incorporates the much larger screen by providing a larger view area and easier controls.
TheAppEra, in their review, said the game does takes some getting used to but “You’ll love the game once you get used to it” and that it’s the best platformer currently available for the iPad.
An interesting twist on the puzzle genre in both concept and art style, Quell has you moving water droplets around levels, avoiding spikes and collecting pearls along the way. Moves are the key to a higher score in Quell, as using less is the goal. Inertia is another key in that the droplet will continue moving until it either smashes into an object or is moved by you.
In their review, GameZebo said that Quell is “a well constructed puzzler with a perfectly judged difficulty level” and that “While it doesn’t play a particularly fresh or innovative game, its rather more “grown-up” approach makes the game far more memorable than it would otherwise have been in such an oversubscribed genre.”
