Nuclear Outrun is played like this: an ICBM has unexpectedly appeared on the horizon, and you have about 30 seconds to get out of town before it destroys you and everything else. You can actually try this yourself right now; the flash version of the game by Nerdook is right over here. It seems like if one had more than 30 seconds’ warning, though, the chance of survival would increase dramatically. Sure, it might not be as fun, but, you know, absence of death by vaporization and all. So, when TriplePoint client Gamenauts tells you that they’re remaking Nuclear Outrun for iOS and that it’s arriving in July, well, that gives you well over a month to leave town before the missiles hit. Handy!
From the press release:
The second in a series of games to be released under Gamenauts’ Asian indie mobile publishing initiative, Nuclear Outrun is set to explode on the App Store in July 2013 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
Through some unforeseen (yet totally avoidable) world crisis, a nuclear missile is about to hit the city and it’s up to players to arm themselves and drive as far as they can before the explosion. Luckily, players can unleash those elusive Weapons of Mass Destruction such as George the cyborg T-Rex to gobble up zombies and the Teddy Bear Bomber that rains down terrors of cuddliness from the sky.
New weapons, new powerups, new soundtrack, same nuclear annihilation. Start loading up the truck now.
