The inaugural Game Developers Choice Online Awards will be hosted at the first Game Developers Conference Online (formerly GDC Austin) in October. The ceremony will be held to honor the accomplishments of online game creators and operators, from MMOs to free-to-play titles to social networking games. There will be two additional awards to honor individuals and games in the space: the Online Game Legend Award, and induction into the GDC Online Awards’ Hall of Fame.

The award categories will be determined by the GDC Online Advisory Board, with the winners being selected by the International Choice Awards Network (ICAN), the same group that pick the Game Developers Choice Awards winners at GDC every year. The categories include:

  • The Best Online Game Design Award
  • The Audience Award
  • The Best Online Visual Arts Award
  • The Best Community Relations Award
  • The Best Online Technical Award
  • The Best Social Network Game Award
  • The Best Audio for an Online Game Award
  • The Best New Online Game Award
  • The Best Live Game Award

Submissions for nominations are open through June 30th. You can find more information regarding the awards at the official website.
