Gameloft Reaches 10 Million App Downloads

Industry, iPhone

“Taking into account that the App Store is only 18 months old, ten million paid downloads is an achievement we are quite proud of.” Those words, from Gameloft CEO Michel Guillemot, sum up the marvelous success the game developer and publisher has enjoyed on the mobile market as of yesterday.

Gameloft claims titles like Avatar and N.O.V.A. were driving sales over the holiday season, and given how many Top 10 Lists that N.O.V.A. has appeared on for 2009, it’s not terribly surprising. Still, you never forget your 10 millionth download — it’s one of those cherished memories from when a publisher is growing up and becoming a man. Or maybe it’s just good business; I get confused about these things.
