PetVille, Social

PetVille players can celebrate Chinese New Year with new decorations and clothing, available now in the game’s virtual marketplace on Facebook! Commemorate 2010, the Chinese Year of the Tiger, with special new items now. Visit the furniture store to get a tiger decoration for your wall, or claw on over to the clothing store to get a mythical lion mask for your face!

Zynga has carefully chosen PetVille Chinese collectibles based some serious symbolism. For example, popular (real life) floral decorations for the New Year include the Plum Blossom, which symbolizes luck in Chinese culture. This year the Chinese New Year falls on February 14 – also the start of the Spring Festival in China, and Valentine’s Day for the rest of us.

Especially fitting for PetVille – dragon and lion dances are common during the real-life Chinese New Year. It is believed that the deafening sounds of loud drum beats and cymbals crashing together, along with the face of the dragon or lion dancing aggressively, can evict bad or evil spirits. Go get these goods while they last, and ward off evil in your pet’s pad!Costumes & Clothing:

  • Crimson Fortune Dress – 1688 Coins
  • Crimson Fortune Buns – 688 Coins
  • Golden Plum Blossom Gown – 1888 Coins
  • Plum Blossom Ribbon – 888 Coins
  • Traditional Chinese Outfit – 928 Coins
  • Mythical Chinese Lion Mask – 1288 Coins

Traditional Chinese paper lanterns are also represented in the limited-edition PetVille collection – in real life, lanterns are used on the 15th day of the Chinese New Year for the Lantern Festival, and come in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes.

Decorations:

  • Cute Tiger Decoration – 928 Coins
  • Lantern – 1288 Coins
  • Red Hanging Fire Crackers – 6 PetCash
  • Fortune Character Poster – 828 Coins
  • Tiger Character Poster – 328 Coins

Hmm… I wonder if Zynga will add Fortune Cookies and Egg Roll treats, or maybe some giftable Chopsticks and Finger Traps… Guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Here’s hoping for additional international flair still to come for Chinese New Year in PetVille!
