After yesterday’s FreeAppADay gave us a way to stay in contact with our friends without those annoying text messaging rates, we get back to gaming with today’s free app. KickSwerve challenges you to test your abilities as a soccer player, kicking an endless supply of balls past obstacles and (hopefully) into the back of the net.
The game contains multiple modes, including a main career mode that has you against the goalie for 50 free-kick scenarios. Gameplay here sees you swiping your finger across the screen, with the game picking up on the power and angle of your swipe to send the ball into motion accordingly.
Other game modes include a Crossbar Challenge, which tests your accuracy by asking you to hit the crossbar with the ball as many times as you can in 60 seconds, Tire Targets, which takes you off of the field and gives you 60 seconds to send as many balls through the center of hanging tires as you can, and even a Quick Play mode, that, like the game’s career mode, challenges you to beat the goalie to the punch and score a goal, but the obstacles, ball, and goalie placement are randomized in each attempt, giving the game literally unlimited replay possibilities.
If you make a miraculous shot, or are simply in the mood to share some of your favorite gameplay moments with friends, you can use the game’s replay feature and upload short clips to the game’s website, or you can also keep track of your high scores on the game’s global leaderboards.
