FreeAppADay for 08/31/10: Hired Gun

iPhone, Mobile

Today’s free iPhone app at FreeAppADay.com is Hired Gun, from Triniti Interactive Limited.

Hired Gun places you in the role of a sniper, hired to eliminate the targets who are out to kill your employer. The game contains unlimited levels, as the target is randomized on each in-game “day” or level that you play.

The game contains black stick figure characters (in fact, most of the game is in black and white), distinguishable by the colored hats they wear on their head. That is, one level could see you aiming for a man with a red baseball cap while the next has you shooting at someone wearing a yellow bandana.

You’ll be able to take a far-away look at the landscape, and then tap on your enemy to zoom in with the scope. As people are constantly moving, you’ll need to move your scope to follow the enemy, which is where the tilt controls come in. You can tilt to move the scope rapidly in any direction, or you can tap and hold on the “hold” button to make your scope stay fairly stationary, with tilting offering a small change, rather than a large one. Finally, simply hit the fire button to shoot a bullet.

Each level is timed, and contains more than one bad guy to kill. As you make successful kills, you’ll rack up combo points, and will earn bonus time on the clock.

If Hired Gun sounds interesting to you, make sure to download the game while it’s free today.
