iPhone, Mobile

Today’s free iPhone app at is Ultimate Word Search, from EnsenaSoft.

The game is as the name suggests – a word search title that contains 63 different English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French word categories, including Animals, Christmas and Winter, Clothes, Elements, Foods, Fruits and Veggies, Human Body, Kings and Pirates, Plants and Trees, Sports, and even five different SAT prep categories, for the English speaking users.

To find a word, you’ll simply tap on the first (or last) letter of the word, and then tap again on the other end. As an example, for the word “Ceremonies,” you would first tap on either the C or S and then tap on the other letter to have the app automatically highlight the entire word, along with crossing it out on the word list on the bottom of the screen. To be clear, you don’t have to spend time tracing around letters as the app does it for you.

Each time you start the game, you’ll be asked to find 12 different words in a particular set. You’ll be timed to see how long it takes you to find all twelve, with the game’s OpenFeint achievements being unlocked based on how long it takes you to complete a puzzle.

If you’ve never heard of a word before, you can look up the word from within the app using six different “reference sites,” and you can customize your experience by choosing from one of six different gameplay themes.

Make sure to download Ultimate Word Search while it’s still free today.
