Today’s free app, as reported by FreeAppADay.com, will be pretty familiar to regular Frisky Mongoose readers. MyTown, from Booyah, was already a free app, played by over 1.5 million people. It’s a check-in app that adds gaming twists to the traditional check-in formula.

You can buy and upgrade your favorite real-world locations, collect rent from others when they check-in to the locations you own, visit your friends’ towns via profile pages, send messages and gifts to your MyTown friends, and even let a virtual version of Godzilla run rampant throughout the town.

To make being featured on FreeAppADay even more special, Booyah is offering a limited edition Shooting Star for free to users who check-in to shopping locations. The star will add to your points and cash totals upon your next check-in.

If you’ve yet to play the game (it’s available in the US only), make sure to do so while this FreeAppADay promotion is active.
