Today’s free app is an interesting one. Kingdoms at War is not only an iPhone application, but it’s also a browser based, massively multiplayer online game, with the iPhone app being able to serve as a connection between you and your online empire while you’re away from the computer.
The game sees you creating your own kingdom, building outposts that will train new soldiers or defensive/offensive unit types like cavalry, pikemen, or battering rams, sending spies to infiltrate your opponents’ kingdoms (they can not only gain information, but can also assassinate others or steal from their resources), gaining allies that can be bought or sold just like any other commodity, using spells and other magical abilities and more, all in your quest to become the most dominant kingdom in the land.
The game is online only, so iPod Touch users would need to be connected to WiFi in order to play the game.
