Ask any child what a rabbit does, and they’ll no doubt mention two things: long ears and jumping. Despite not speaking with any children lately, I can take both of those facts for granted. Bunnies are simple little things, after all.
But Grabbity, a new free-to-play platformer from TriplePoint clients Efecto Studios and Televisa Home Entertainment, has me re-thinking the complexity of those frequently airborne creatures. Rabbits can hop, sure. But how do they take a fall? Like a cat, maybe they can survive a jump out of a 20th-floor apartment in Manhattan. Or maybe they’ll just splatter like all the lesser critters of this world, mongooses excepted. But shouldn’t evolution balance a rabbit’s mad ups with the dexterity to take an inevitable fall? Or perhaps like in Monty Python’s imagining, they’re outside the familiar paths of nature entirely.
Luckily, you won’t need to spend time pondering such rediculous questions in Grabbity. With any luck, you can keep those rabbit-esque Grabbians — sly devils that they are — floating and twisting through space without ever slamming down on terra firma. Always falling, never stalling. Just be sure to pick up those familiar platforming goodies as you tilt your way to victory.
