FarmVille, Location-Based, Mobile, Social

According to Time Magazine (reported by Mashable), FarmVille and Foursquare have landed on the publications Top 50 Worst Inventions.

Farmville landed on the list for its particular ability to “waste time”. Dan Fletcher, writing about Farmville, said that it was “hardly even a game” and that it was essentially a “series of mindless chores”. And yet, over 75 million people play the game, so it must be doing something right…right?

Foursquare was given the dubious distinction of being one of the worst inventions because, as Time’s Kristi Oloffson said that it promotes narcissism, and that it adds “another layer onto a generation living virtually.”

What do you think? Do you agree with Time or are they just a bunch of old fogeys that are behind the times?
