With so many games being released on the iTunes app store, it’s sometimes hard to keep up with which ones you should or shouldn’t be playing on your iPhone. Thankfully, we have the review round-up to show you the best games available on the app store, complete with summaries and reviews from all around the web.
Taking a lot of the foundation from Bejeweled and Tetris, Flipstones is a good mix making a very compelling and pretty puzzle game for the iPhone. Triangular jewels fall from the top of the screen, and you must organize them in order to stop them from filling the screen entirely. With 18 stages to challenge your mind, Flipstones isn’t necessarily a short game and has plenty to offer.
In Slidetoplay‘s review, they said the game is “visually simple, and the music can become rather annoying after a while” but that “the controls are very responsive”. Overall, “It’s a lot of fun and has the potential to be really great. If the problem of stages filling up early gets fixed, this game could really shine.”
Price: $1.99. Rating: 3 out of 4.
Shooter games are in no short supply on the iPhone, and Ultraviolet doesn’t stray to far from the standard formula, but adds a few new touches to make it worth your while. To control, you simply shoot enemies with the right ‘nub’ on the touch screen, while moving around with the left. The objective is to simply destroy all enemies in a level without dying. If you die too many times, it’s game over.
TheAppEra reviewed the game and said that it’s “a great shooter, and one that approaches the task very differently. It is only as hard as you want it, or as laid back as you could possibly want.” and that overall, they would recommend the game.
