FarmVille has its Carrier Pigeons, Happy Aquarium has a Banggai Cardinal fish, and now, Social Games Help has spotted that FishVille has its Dwarf Angelfish. What do all of these items have in common? They are all available as in-game bonuses for those who decide to sign up for each game’s email distribution list, a factor that seems to be becoming a necessity as Facebook’s terms and conditions look to shut down the current notification system as we know it.
In the case of FishVille, email updates will contain reminders to feed your fish, gifts from your friends, and will also grant users access to limited edition items, hopefully in addition to the Dwarf Angelfish that becomes available to purchase after signing up for the emails in the first place.
Luckily, if you don’t care about the new fish, signing up for email updates isn’t mandatory, which I see as a fairly good thing, as users who play a lot of Facebook games may find their email in-boxes full of a lot of arguably unnecessary emails in the near future.
