We learned about a week ago that Pigpens would be coming to FarmVille, and it didn’t take long for Zynga to start officially rolling out the feature to all users. Note: This feature is being released over time, so if you don’t have access to the Pigpen just yet, don’t fret, as it will come to your own game soon.
The FarmVille Pigpen works in the same way as other animal storage buildings, in that you’ll be given a frame for free upon logging into the game, that is, if you are level 16 or above. Once you place the frame on your farm, you’ll be able to post a general announcement to your wall allowing your friends to see that you’ve begun construction, and giving them a general heads up that you need materials.
Unlike other buildings, the Pigpen only takes 24 items in total to build – eight each of three different ingredients: Bricks, Nails, and Wooden Boards. As usual, there are multiple ways to accumulate these items. You can either purchase a single ingredient for 1 Farm Cash, or you can rely on your friends to help you.
Your friends can either send you the ingredients from the game’s free gifts page (remember, everyone should have access to two of the three parts on their own page), or you can click on the “Ask for More” button associated with any particular ingredient. This takes you to a reverse of the game’s free gifts page, where you can send a gift request to friends, asking them to send you the ingredient in question. This, unfortunately, does not function as the new Shovels gift request feature does, in that you won’t receive a bonus for helping a friend, but we’re sure they’ll appreciate it.
As you finish collecting all of the necessary ingredients of a single type, you can post other news posts to your wall giving away excess parts of the same kind. That is, finish collecting all eight bricks and you can post a news item giving away bricks to your friends. A similar event takes place when you reach the halfway point of construction, and when you finish the Pigpen entirely, except these posts give away one of the three ingredients at random.
Once the Pigpen is completed, you can store up to 20 pigs inside and collect from them once a day. Additionally, we can officially confirm that both Piglets and special edition pigs like the Party Pig can be stored inside. As of right now, however, it doesn’t appear that there is any way to expand the storage limit on the Pigpen, but that may come in the future.
The added features associated with the Pigpen event, that being Truffle Hunting and Slop, are not active as of this writing, as the Pigpen event will be released in stages. That being the case, make sure to keep checking back with us as we bring you the latest news about this exciting new feature. For now, though, head over to the FarmVille game page on Facebook to start building your own Pigpen.
