After a year solely on the computer, Farmville-obsessed iPhone/iPad users can rejoice for the newly released Farmville app. That’s right! You don’t have to settle for other farming apps anymore (however, I will keep Zombie Farm)! No more desperate calls to any friend near a computer to harvest your pumpkins while you’re at work (I’m not the only one, right?). Now you can plow, seed, and harvest right on your iPhone.
According to the reviews in the App Store, there are still a few glitches to fix, but the app is sure to improve with future updates (personally, I haven’t had any problems so far). The basics of the game are virtually identical to the Facebook version and most features appear to be accounted for (sending gifts, fertilizing plots, feeding chickens, etc.) except for co-op farming. Push notifications make it easy to harvest on time. My only peeve is the amount of scrolling I have to do because of the small iPhone screen, so iPad users will most likely have a better time with it.
I’m very pleased with the app overall, and I’m sure my friends will be relieved to never have another infamous Farmville call from me.
