Facebook, Location-Based, Mobile, Social

Facebook is constantly looking to improve how it does social interaction in as many ways as possible. The company is now ready to officially announce  its next project with its new location features that will surely rival such existing platforms as Foursquare and Gowalla. Of course, it’s not intended to rival these other services but rather use that information to import into Facebook.

Facebook is also expected to announce their own version of these location based services with existing privacy services in place. Sometimes you may want your friends to know where you are but maybe not your mother. Facebook is most likely to address that as well with this update.

The biggest advantage Facebook will have over the other location services will be its userbase. 400 million people visit Facebook regularly and there is a native Facebook app on just about every mobile platform available which would certainly make Facebook a huge player right out of the gate.
