When Playdom launched Social City a little over a week ago, the crew here at Frisky Mongoose jumped right in. The city-building genre may not be a new one in terms of Facebook games (with games like My Town already having quite the following), but Social City’s developer, Playdom, is doing everything it can to reward and thank early adopters of the game; namely, release tons of new items to add to our newly formed cities.
Yesterday’s update saw the release of two new residential buildings (a Bed and Breakfast and a Condo), two new leisure structures (a Sushi Restaurant and a Clock Tower) and a decorative gift in the form of a “Banana Monkey,” which is now available to hand out to friends via the game’s free gifts panel.
The Bed and Breakfast is available to all users for 30 City Bucks (the game’s premium currency, which can luckily be earned by leveling up), and produces 50 new citizens every eight minutes, while the Condo is unlocked at level 14, and offers 500 new residents every 12 hours.
As you’ll need a way to keep these new citizens happy, the Sushi Restaurant and Clock Tower add to your town’s happiness level by 3,050 and 2,000 points, respectively. The Sushi Restaurant unlocks at level 17, while the Clock Tower is available by default for 75 City Bucks.
