iPad, Mobile

Members of the AAPL Sanity Board set out with the task of determining how many iPads were sold in the first day of ordering came back with an interesting number: 120,000. The statistic was compiled using information regarding 48 orders and serial numbers for the iPad.

An Apple Expert Philip Elmer-DeWitt said that the information sounded correct and coincides with the supposed popularity of the iPad. Also of note is that a good majority of the orders were for the WiFi only models and not the 3G models. Right now, Apple is limiting the amount of iPad units to two per person.
