Eric Clapton and Fender to Release Rock-Laden myTouch Phone

Thu, Jan 14, 2010

HELLO CLEVELAND! CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?! T-Mobile has issued a press release announcing a new musically inclined mobile device: The T-Mobile® myTouch™ 3G Fender™ Limited Edition. A phone with that many trademarks is clearly a big deal, and T-Mobile has partnered with guitarist extraordinaire Eric Clapton to launch the exclusive device on January 20th.

Just how hard will the limited edition phone rock? Beyond having a Fender-inspired sunburst design, T-Mobile is promising that the Android-based phone will come preloaded with several musical apps, including Guitar: Solo and Musical Light. It will also boast a number of audio-specific hardware features, such as a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 16GB microSD card, and an “enhanced music player” — which users can enjoy with the preloaded songs by Clapton and other artists, including Clapton’s hits “Layla,” “My Father’s Eyes,” “Rock ‘N’ Roll Heart,” and “Wonderful Tonight.”

The T-Mobile® myTouch™ 3G Fender™ Limited Edition (whew) is expected to retail for $179.99 with a two-year T-Mobile contract.
