Casual, Console

In a press release today, EA announced console versions of the hugely popular The Sims 3 to be released later this year. Each version will largely have the same concepts and goals but they will each have their own exclusive features that set them apart.

Executive Producer at EA, Sam Player explained: “We’re bringing players the best console and handheld game for The Sims franchise to date and are excited to offer a unique experience for all types of gamers on their platform of choice. Building on the unique traits system, living open neighborhood, lifetime wishes, and endless customization options, we’ve tailored each platform of The Sims 3 with exclusive features to allow for even more control, creativity, and connectivity.”

New to the console versions are the “Karma Powers” in which you can dramatically alter the course of your Sims’ life in a touch of a button. Along with this, exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are the ability to share your creations in the game with people all around the world.

Not only is there the ability to share content, but they are also going to allow you to check your rewards and challenges on Facebook as well as share them with your friends.

Only on the Wii version is an exclusive beach town and “Life Moments” mode. The mode expect players to have several adventures that involve exploring and discovering secrets all throughout the town.

EA did not give a specific date for release but did say to expect it in Fall 2010.

The only major difference we were shown at E3 is that the Wii version will contain exclusive multiplayer mini-games, while the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will allow you to share content over Live and PSN, respectively. There will be a simulation mode, just like the PC version, and you’ll be able to have a family like you’d expect. From our look at the game at E3, yes, there will be upstairs to the homes. And yes, you can even build swimming pools, as one of the demos we were shown was showing a pool party of sorts, where Sims were swimming in the backyard and having a meal. All things considered, you should be able to have children, but that was not confirmed to us at the demo.

The PC version is great if abit buggy at times. So these should be pretty good. Although it wont get some of the PC features it will definately get console only features to compensate!
