E3 2010: MySims: Sky Heroes Hands-On (Nintendo Wii)

Casual, Console

The newest title in the MySims series is MySims: Sky Heroes. EA has decided to take the series multi-platform outside of the Nintendo camp, by developing the title not only for the Nintendo Wii and DS, but also the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. At this year’s E3, we had a chance to go hands-on with the Nintendo Wii version of the game.

The game utilizes both the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck. The game is a very light version of a flying-shooter, which contains a cross-hair that automatically targets nearby enemies, allowing you to launch both missiles in their direction and general gunfire.

The game will take you to multiple themed locations – our time with the demo saw us flying around what appeared to be a type of South American temple (most likely Mayan or Incan in origin), surrounded by palm trees and other tropical fauna. Our goal in the demo was to eliminate all of the enemy planes on the screen by shooting them out of the sky.

It should be noted that it’s impossible to crash your own plane into rocks, trees, and the like, as you’ll simply bounce off and continue on in flight. This continues in the series’ family-friendly nature, as younger players will be able to play the game without frustration.

MySims: Sky Heroes is set to release sometime this year.
