E3 2010: Microsoft VideoKinect Brings Chat To Another Level

Casual, Console

At the Xbox 360 E3 Media Briefing, Microsoft announced one of the biggest features of the new Kinect device: VideoKinect. VideoKinect was shown as being a form of video chat in that you can select any of your online friends with Kinect and see them in person.

Once in the video chat, you can see news, check out videos and search the web with their friends. While you are performing these actions, you and your friend will still be on the screen. VideoKinect also features face tracking where the camera will automatically pan with your movements across the screen.

Windows Live Messenger will also be integrated into the video chat option. Very neat. While no release date was announced, we’re assuming it will be out for the launch of Kinect later this fall.
