At Triplepoint client’s Target’s booth, there were a few Wii demos setup by Ubisoft with some upcoming casual and mainstream games on display for attendees to play. One of those games was Hollywood Squares and I was lucky enough to get my hands on it for a few minutes.
Hollywood Squares succeeds in its premise of being a direct copy of the TV show with the same namesake. Licensed by CBS, the demo included clips of Brad Garrett from the show and there may be more to come in the full version.
For those not familiar with the TV show, Hollywood Squares is played like a large-scale Tic Tac Toe game with celebrities in each square. At the start of each round, a player picks a square and the celebrity is then asked a question and answers it. If the player thinks the celeb’s answer is correct or not, they can agree or disagree. Winning the square requires that the player picked the appropriate response, by either agreeing with a celebrity’s correct answer or disagreeing with a celebrity’s incorrect answer.
The Wii version looks to support multiplayer (not available in the demo) and avatar creation. No release date was mentioned during my playtime, but I would expect to see it later this year.
