Console, Industry

In a somewhat surprising move, both Sega Europe and Sega of America announced that several games from the Sega Dreamcast’s classic library will soon be available for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The first titles available will be Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi later in the fall of 2010.

Each of the reborn titles will be exact replicas of their Dreamcast versions with the gameplay everyone knows and loves. The new revisions will feature high resolution graphics and new surround sound capabilities along with online leaderboards so you can compare with friends all over the world. Achievements and Trophies will also add value to these new editions as well.

“The Dreamcast is fondly remembered by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and online gaming” commented Haruki Satomi, VP of Digital Business at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe. “There are few things that are more requested from us than making Dreamcast classics available for download in today’s digital market place. We’re very excited to begin offering gamers our beloved Dreamcast titles again on the current console systems.”

Sonic Adventure will be the first title available in 2010. Anyone else get a big grin on their face reading this? Any other titles you’re looking forward to?
