Welcome to another installment of the Casual Gaming Round-Up, a feature here on Frisky Mongoose that gives you a look at some of the news happening now in the casual side of the video game world. In this installment, we take a look at a list of tracks announced for Rock Band 3 and Dance Central, and we swing over to King.com to take a look at their new game, Letter Swap.
New Tracks Announced for Rock Band 3 and Dance Central
While we know that Rock Band 3 will contain a list of 83 on-disc tracks, the specific tracks available have been kept under wraps, that is, until now, as MTV Games has announced what six of the 83 songs will be.
The songs are all master recordings, and are:
- Marilyn Manson – The Beautiful People
- Filter – Hey Man, Nice Shot
- Foreigner – Cold As Ice
- Def Leppard – Foolin’
- The B-52′s - Rock Lobster
- Tears for Fears – Everybody Wants to Rule the World
Meanwhile, for those who would rather get up off of the couch and dance instead of fulfill their dreams of rock superstardom, MTV Games has also announced a few tracks that will be available in their upcoming Dance Central:
- Snoop Dogg – Drop It Like It’s Hot
- Young MC – Bust A Move
- Salt N Pepa – Push It
As with the Rock Band 3 selection, all of these Dance Central songs are the original recordings. Rock Band 3 will launch on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS on October 26 of this year, while Dance Central will ship to stores on November 4, exclusively for the Kinect on the Xbox 360.
King.com Launches Letter Swap
For those who would rather game on a PC instead of a home console, King.com has launched a new game on the casual gaming portal. The game is called Letter Swap, and it challenges you with earning the most points you can in a limited amount of moves.
You’ll earn points by swapping letter tiles to create words either horizontally or vertically. If you can create more than one word in a single move, then you’re doing pretty well, as you’ll need to get the highest score possible in just five swaps.
To start the game off with a bang, King.com is offering a new tournament for the game, called the Big Brother Royal Cup. The prize pot contains a whopping $14,765 in real money, all up for grabs if you manage to score high enough.
As the game is new, and the prize is high, you can expect to face a bit of a queue line when heading in to play the game (that is, unless you are a King.com Gold Member). If a little wait doesn’t bother you, though, make sure to head over to the game’s website to try your hand at swapping some letters.
