Facebook, Social

According to Business Week, Capcom is planning on releasing its first Facebook game by “as early as this fiscal year.”

Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto says that the company has waited long enough to strike at this hot market: “Gaming on social networks is poised to impact the traditional video game industry and is a presence that cannot be ignored. We have to make our move.”

Unfortunately, that’s all we know about the game at this point – that one will simply exist sometime in the near future, but any specific details concerning theme, or even name, have yet to be revealed. Will Capcom be bringing its Street Fighter franchise to the social network? Or perhaps we’ll be seeing a Mafia Wars style game set in the Resident Evil universe.

Whatever the case may be, we’ll be sure to bring you further news of Capcom’s foray into Facebook gaming as it becomes available.
