While the game hasn’t been around as long as FarmVille, which just received a major upgrade to the way you store items, in the form of a Storage Cellar, Zynga is looking to capitalize on the theme by adding a Storage Shed in FrontierVille.
The Storage Shed is a new building type available to purchase in the game’s store for 20,000 coins and 20 pieces of wood. As we know from previous buildings, this only gives you the plot of land that the Storage Shed will eventually be built upon, and to build the frame, you’ll need to whack the frame ten times, with each whack costing ten wood. That’s a total of 100 wood, to build the entire frame, and ten energy.
After you’ve built the frame, you might think that all of your saved Nails, Hammers and Paint Buckets will come in mighty handy, but you’d be wrong, as the Storage Shed takes six entirely new ingredients to build. These ingredients are the Window, bag of Cement, wooden Pegs, Mallets, Shingles, and cans of Elbow Grease. Additionally, these items are needed in two different quantities. You’ll need ten cans of Elbow Grease, while you’ll only need five of everything else. In total, that results in you needing 35 total items to build the Shed.
You can go about earning these ingredients in a couple of different ways. For starters, you can “Ask Friends” for the parts, by clicking on the appropriate button under a particular ingredient. This will allow you to ask particular friends for the ingredients, as we’ve been able to in other Zynga games, namely FarmVille, for some time, when it comes to such building projects. That is, while announcements can still be posted on your news feed asking for parts, you can also reach out to friends individually to help you complete the Shed that much faster.
As of right now, it doesn’t appear that users are able to send these ingredients to their friends from the game’s free gifts page, as only the original set of tools are appearing. That being said, there have been a couple of glitches noted with this event (like the Storage Shed not showing up for purchase in some users’ stores, among others), so we’ll hold a final verdict on that option until we know for certain that they are really not supposed to be there.
Finally, unlike the other ingredients in the game, you can’t buy these with Horseshoes, making completing the Shed that much harder.
Another item of note is a new quest which is associated with the Storage Shed. You’ll have to build the Shed, and then customize it to complete two steps of the quest, with the third being to buy a Farm Rake from the market. A new collection is also available for the Storage Shed, which requires you to collect a Door Hinge, Spider, Step Stool, Toolbox, and Vice Clamp. The prize for completing the collection is a free Work Bench.
