Build A FarmVille Garage – Upgrade and Store Your Vehicles

FarmVille, Social

As was hinted a few weeks ago in an official FarmVille Podcast, Vehicle Garages are now live in the game. This is a massive feature, says Zynga, so the feature will be rolled out to users over time, rather than all at once, which would explain why you may not find this feature in your own game when logging in. Whether or not you have access to the garage, we’ve spent some time with the feature, and can let you know what to expect when you take part in it in your game.

First, the Garage feature is only open to players level 22 and above. If you meet that requirement, you can purchase the Garage’s frame from the store for 50,000 coins.

Once you do, you’ll be informed that this building is a “20 vehicle storage building,” and you’ll be able to post a news item to your wall to inform your friends that you’ve begun the process of building your Garage so that they may send you construction materials. You’ll also be able to post a similar notification when you reach the halfway point in the building’s construction.

To build the garage, you’ll only need 30 parts in total – 10 each of three ingredients. The ingredients are the same ones we’ve been used to for months, the brick, nail and wooden board. You’ll be able to receive these items either as free gifts from your friends (who initiate the gift giving via the game’s free gifts page), or through the process of clicking on the “Ask for More” button below each ingredient.

In the former situation, each user has access to sending two of the three items. In my case, as we can see below, I can send users the Wooden Board and Brick, but not the Nail.

For the latter option, clicking on “Ask for More” below any of the ingredients takes you to a reverse of the game’s free gifts page, where you’ll be able to choose which individual friends you would like to request that particular ingredient from. That is, instead of your friends receiving a Brick from you, their “gift request notification” will allow them to send a Brick to you. As usual, if you can convince a new player to add the app via such a request, they can send you a triple pack of the ingredient, rather than just a single unit.

Once you finish building the Garage, you can immediately move all of your vehicles inside it (up to 20 vehicles, if you happen to own that many). Each vehicle starts at level 1, but once they are placed inside the garage, they can be upgraded to plow more plots of land at one time than before (2×2 squares to start, then up to 3×3 squares and so on, as one example).

This is done via the use of Vehicle Parts, which can also be sent to friends via the game’s free gifts page, or you can click on “Ask for Parts” in the Garage menu to ask your friends to send you parts in the same way that you asked for the Garage’s building ingredients. You can also purchase parts for Farm Cash, at a rate of 1 Farm Cash for one individual part. Depending on the level of the vehicle, you’ll need more and more Vehicle Parts to upgrade it.

As of this writing, you can only upgrade each vehicle to level 4. Level one requires just 2 parts to upgrade, while level 2 is 5 parts, level 3 is 10 parts, and level 4 is 15 parts. For levels 3 and 4, you must be at least level 26 or more in the game to be able to access them (remember, to access the garage to begin with, you’ll need to be at least level 22). Once you upgrade a vehicle, you can post a news item to your wall that will allow 10 of your friends to claim a Vehicle Part for themselves.

Also as of this writing, each user can only own one garage, and unfortunately, the Biplane cannot be stored inside it, and therefore cannot currently be upgraded. We’ll be sure to let you know when and if any of those facts change, but for now, head over to the game’s page on Facebook to see if you have access to the Garage. Remember, the feature is rolling out over time, so if you don’t receive the introductory pop-up upon logging into the game, be patient, you will get the feature soon.
