Console, Industry

The Nielsen research firm has conducted a survey concerning purchase intent for the PS3 console. The results seem to show that Blu-Ray functionality is the top factor in a consumer purchasing a PS3 system.

The survey conducted included 10 specific features of the PS3 concerning the “value” of them. Being able to play specific PS3 games ranked the lowest on the list. Neilsen conducted the survey surrounding the launch of God of War III with 700 gamers who do not own a PS3 but said they were interested in owning one.

Price cuts sat at #2, and #3 was the entire library of PS3 games. Alongside those was the ability to play PS3 games with friends and other online/multimedia capabilities.
