Android, Mobile

In the world of Android, there are always plenty of news stories surrounding the rapidly growing platform that has taken the mobile world completely by storm. Today, we have the news of the Blockbuster app  being released on the Android Market and the new AppBrain installer which allows anyone to link to an app and have it immediately installed on a user’s phone.

Blockbuster App Released on Android Market

Previously only available as a packed-in app on the Droid X, the Blockbuster App has hit the Android Market. With this new app, you can download movies right from the blockbuster website or rent them by mail or in-store. The app utilizes the “Blockbuster On Demand” service which allows you to resume watching a movie from anywhere, from any device. The app is completely free, although the movies do each have a rental or purchase cost associated. I would possibly give it a try myself if the local Blockbuster store hadn’t closed down a few years back. Visit the Android Market or click here to install.

AppBrain “Install Link” Launched

For a while now, AppBrain has been known as the best way to install apps onto your phone from the web. Now, they’ve made it even easier with the “Fast Web Install” app that will allow you to simply install apps on your phone right from the AppBrain Web page.

Even better, you can now embed links on any page in order to allow users to install apps from any web page. As an example, I have linked the Blockbuster app above using this new tool. What a great addition to the Android Market!
