The attendance figures from last week’s Game Developers Conference have been released, with this year’s total persons in attendance smashing last year’s record. In 2009, around 17,000 people attended GDC. This year that total was a whopping 18,250. Those individuals were treated to over 400 different panels, seminars, and overall discussions.

“Even through hailstorms and turbulent business times, the passion, experience and sheer dedication of the gaming community really showed through this week, to make for an incredible conference,” said GDC event director Meggan Scavio, as reported by Industry Gamers. “I’m proud to see the games industry reinvigorated by the new platforms, inspiring ideas and fresh business models showcased at GDC 2010, and I hope attendees take the lessons that they learned from the event to create tomorrow’s amazing titles.”

Next year’s event will take place from February 28th to March 4th 2011. The lecture submission process will begin this summer.
