iPad, Mobile

According to Brainstorm Tech (as reported by Mashable), Apple’s new iPad tablet moved 600,000 – 700,000 units in the first weekend of its launch. This figure includes all pre-orders made for the system before its launch.

To compare this figure with the launch of the iPhone, it took Apple 74 days to sell the first million units of the original iPhone, and just three days to move a million units of the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3Gs.

The sales estimates come from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, whose team put in calls to Apple’s stores around the country to determine how many units remained in each.
