At 22 years old, Kim Yeo-hee (better known as Applegirl002 on Youtube) has accomplished a lot with so little. Armed with the iPhones of her friends and her own iPhone, Kim Yeo-hee used music apps on the iPhone to record songs.
She started making Youtube videos in March 2010, posting a video featuring “Irreplaceable” by Beyoncé. I was a little skeptical upon first watching this. However, after watching the video, it wasn’t surprising at all that it garned over a million views in as little as four months. Soon after, an iPhone version of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” was posted. To date, the video has almost 3 million hits since it was released in March.
Now the Wall Street Journal reports that the beloved Applegirl002 has official signed to a record label: Dreamhigh-Ent based in Seoul, Korea. She has started recording for her own album and has already released a teaser for her first single.
Kim Yeo-hee expressed interest in working with Apple, saying: “It would be great if Apple contacts me, but I know it can only happen in my wildest dream. But I definitely want to work outside Korea if opportunity comes.” Considering what she’s done with the iPhone, I think Apple has found a great spokeswoman in Ms. Kim. She’s living proof that Korea’s got Seoul (that pun was either really lame or really boss)!
