iPad, iPhone, Mobile, Social

Hey, with everyone else jumping on board, why not Apple? The company that has brought you products such as the iPhone and iPad may be bringing soeme sort of social networking service very soon. The patent filed last Thursday looks to bring social communication over Ad-Hoc to events such as tradeshows, concerts, rallies or other events using yor iPhone.

In the application, the service is referred to as “iGroups” and enables people to share geographical data with the network and share data specific to their current location. The type of information that would be possible to share would be real-time text, IM, pictures and video.

Foursquare already does this same type of service without pictures and video added in but maybe this iGroups would take off more than Foursquare due to it being built-in to new mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad. A patent isn’t always a guarantee of an upcoming product so we’ll just have to wait and see to pass further judgement.

Be Sociable, Share!
