Apple Unveiling New iPhone June 22nd?

iPhone, Mobile

UPDATE: According to IntoMobile, SaskTel has confirmed the rumors – “The good news is that Apple is coming out with a new version of the iPhone in the June time-frame and they’re going to put us on that. So we’re quite excited about that.”

If you’re a current iPhone user and you’re looking to upgrade to the 3GS, you might want to wait a couple of months. There are swirls of speculation that Apple is planning on announcing an all new iPhone on June 22nd.

For their part, Apple would not confirm or deny the rumors.

Furthermore, the rumors only dealt with the date of a potential announcement and did not focus on any exact features the potential new phone would have.

Regardless of whether the date is correct or not, I think it is a pretty fair assumption that sometime this summer, Apple will be announcing some sort of upgrade to the iPhone. It’s been on a yearly schedule up until this point, so it stands to reason that Apple would be following the same trend. For me, it’s just in time too. My iPhone contract is up in August, (and I have a 3G, which means the biggest feature of OS 4–multitasking–is not available to me) so I’m definitely eager to hear what Apple has in store for the next iPhone hardware update.

I too have a 3G with my upgrade coming in August. I figure waiting that long should give the DevTeam plenty of time to come out with a nice little jailbreak :-)
