Android, Mobile

Welcome to the first edition of AndroidAppADay, our daily report on the free apps you should scan from the Android Market. Until there is a designated web destination for Android app downloads, finding and retrieving apps is a bit tedious. As your AndroidAppADay host, I feel it’s only my duty to make things as easy as possible for you droids out there, so I’m going to recommend that you do a few things…

First, grab the Barcode Scanner App from the Market; it’s free and will make getting the Apps I talk about easier than ever to get. The app allows you to scan the barcodes found on Android Market web pages.

Second, you should totally follow this account on Twitter for easy access to the free droid-app-a-day.

Now that we have the introduction out of the way, I want to talk about Ringdroid. Ringdroid is an app that does what many people have always wanted to do on their phones: make ringtones from their existing music library. Ringdroid solves that problem with ease.

All you have to do in Ringdroid is select the song you wish to use as your ringtone, then select which portion of the song you’d like to use as your ringtone and save it. This app is so simple, yet it shows just how much the Android’s open platform can really benefit you.

Better than paying 99¢ or more per ringtone from your carrier, right? After saving, the app allows you to assign it as a ringtone, specific contact tone, or notification tone.

Ringdroid is consistently updated and currently available on the Android Market. See you tomorrow with more free goodies!
