AndroidAppADay: Movies

Facebook, Social

What a generic name for an app, right? Well, the app itself is anything but generic offering the most robust app for the movie-goer in all of us. From the app itself, you can rate movies, add them to your netflix queue, see all casting and descriptions of the movie, watch movie trailers and see upcoming theatrical releases as well as DVD new releases.

In the above screenshot, you see a list of movies that are currently out and the fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes next to them. If you were to select a movie from that list, you would have access to rate the movie, watch trailers, get local showtimes or add it to my netflix queue.

Not only does it save your rating to the app itself, but it can integrate to Facebook and allow you to post your ratings there. Flixster, the makers of the app, have done well in creating a giant movie database for Facebook so it’s nice to see them integrate into the app seamlessly.

One last note is on the theater showtimes, when selecting the theater you have the option of viewing all of the local theaters in google maps giving you a nice glimpse of what theater is closest to you. Very nice.

Movies is currently available from the Android Market.
