AndroidAppADay: AppAware

Android, Mobile

If you’re like me, you enjoy learning about awesome new apps no matter the source and this honestly feels odd to write when I consider that I am a source of app recommendation and discovery myself. Anyhow, today’s app is AppAware which is another way of discovering apps and works well if all you’re looking to do is discover something new or unheard of.

Now, the built-in Android Market does an okay job of showing you the latest and greatest apps but the problem with the system is that the top lists aren’t updated as frequently as people download apps. AppAware fixes this problem by providing actual real-time results of what apps people are downloading.

Using this tool, it’s easy to see which apps people are installing, uninstalling and updating. As with the Android Market, the app also includes some top lists of its own including one that tells you which apps are popular for your own specific device. Very handy.

On top of discovering what others are downloading, AppAware also shares what you do with your apps as well by sharing your installations with the world. Not to worry, it’s all anonymous but there is an option to share each change with Twitter as well.

All in all, a very neat app that has allowed myself to discover certain apps that I can get excited about and share with you.

AppAware is currently available on the Android Market.
