Vampire Saga: Pandora’s Box saw release last year on the PC and overall seemed to please fans of the hidden-object adventure genre. The game is now back on the iPhone as a direct port, and manages to take the same adventure and make it portable. Thanks to Alawar, we’ve been able to look over the game and share our experience with you.
In Vampire Saga, the tale is as such: Tyler Ward is visiting his grandfather and finds out that a series of events have occurred that have triggered memories of your grandfather’s past. Most of the rest of the game is then spent playing as Tyler’s grandfather, Matthew as he recollects his past to find answers for what is happening now. The story is centered around a ship named “Pandora” that Matthew had stowed-away on as a youth and holds dark secrets.
Vampire Saga: Pandora’s Box is a hidden-object adventure game that has you tapping the screen to either pick up or use objects in various fashions. Quite often, you’ll come to a point where the game comes to a screeching halt and you must solve a hidden-object puzzle in order to advance. These hidden object puzzles are generally simple and easy, but can be tricky if you’re not careful.
To help make things move a bit more smoothly, there are a few neat additions to the hidden-object formula in Vampire Saga such as context-aware item hunting. This means that, in the list of items at the bottom of the screen, only the items that are visible are lit up, making it easier to tell if an item is within reach. A good hint system is also available, bringing you one step closer to solving a difficult puzzle.
Overall, Vampire Saga: Pandora’s Box is a good, cheap adventure that anyone with an iPhone could enjoy. If you’d like to check out Vampire Saga: Pandora’s Box, be sure to download it from the iTunes App Store for just $2.99.
