Adobe AIR Coming to Android: Infinite Possibilities?

Android, Mobile

Flash is a touchy subject when it comes to mobile phones, mainly stemming from Apple’s stance to never, EVER allow it on their mobile devices, including the iPhone and iPad. However, Android is allowing whatever and whoever they want to come and develop for their platform. In that light, Adobe is embracing Android with an upcoming beta preview of Adobe AIR 2.0 for Android.

What exactly which apps will and will not work with Android is a good question, and is largely uncertain at the moment. According to MediaBistro, the AccuWeather app for AIR is very nice and functional on the desktop version of AIR so I suppose it would be interesting to see how it looks on a mobile device screen.

The biggest question is whether or not the AIR platform can bring anything to Android that its own app development platform can’t already do. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess.
