Casual, Handheld

Nintendo of America’s president Reggie Fils-Aime graced the set of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday to show off Donkey Kong Country Returns, and to drop the bombshell that gamers didn’t want to hear: the 3DS will not be launching in the U.S. until 2011.

The considerable hype and deluge of details on Nintendo’s new handheld during E3 worked gamers into a frenzy. The reality of the 3DS is cooler than even the rumors suggested, and the line-up of 3DS titles is mouth-watering, including remakes of genre defining titles like Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Unfortunately American gamers, at least, will have to bide their time until sometime next year before getting their hands on the system. Hopefully Nintendo continues to keep us excited until then.
